About Candace:
Candace is a survivor of over 16 years of domestic violence. She’s divorced and thanks God for it every day. During that time in her life, she wasn’t allowed to have anything that was hers. She wasn’t allowed to do a lot of things while under the rule of thumb of her abuser.
When her abuser abandoned them, she looked around her home and the walls were bare like they always were, but they were filled with abuse and sadness, tears and anger and yelling…so much fear.
That’s when she started creating her “happy little places.” She walked around her house and gathered what she had. She went to the store and for little money purchased plants and pictures and set them up in the corners of her home. These happy little places have inspired her daughters to do the same in their rooms. Creating happiness doesn’t have to cost a lot of money.
She’s an inspiration of resilience and the power to overcome.
